Woman Who Went Viral Singing “Shallow” in the Subway Performs Song on “Ellen”

The professional singer who went viral last week by flawlessly performing “Shallow” in the subway has taken her talents to TV. Charlotte Awbery made a surprise appearance on Wednesday’s Ellen, delivering a thrilling performance of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born single before chatting about her newfound fame. “I’m so blown away that I’m actually sitting next to you. I’m absolutely overwhelmed by all of this,” Awbery told Ellen. “Thank you so much for having me.” She was also shocked to learn from Ellen that her viral video’s been viewed 60 million times, and said that after Ariana Grande followed her on Instagram, “I followed her back!” She went on to explain that she’s spent 15 years performing at bars, restaurants and weddings. “My dad always said to me, ‘Wherever you are, just sing. Never ever give up,” Awbery said. “And he was right.”

Ellen then surprised Awbery by giving her 10,000 pounds and a yearlong pass on the London Underground.
