Random Fact: Glancing at Your Phone Can Be Contagious

You know when someone yawns, you suddenly have the urge to yawn too? It’s the same with looking at our phones.
According to an article on NewScientist.com, glancing at your cell phone prompts the people around you to do the same within 30 seconds.
It’s called the “chameleon effect” and it’s just one of those weird, knee-jerk reactions our brains do to socialize.
Elizabeth Palagi explains:
“We have a need to follow the norms imposed on us by people around us, to [match] our actions with theirs in this automatic way.”
