Coachella Officially Cancelled for 2020
Riverside County officials made the announcement on Wednesday that the annual Coachella and Stagecoach events have been officially cancelled for 2020. Originally organizers planned to postpone the events until October but as the Covid Pandemic continued, safety of the event was cited as a reason for the cancellations.
“I am concerned as indications grow that COVID-19 could worsen in the fall,” Dr. Cameron Kaiser, the county’s public health officer, said in a written statement. “In addition, events like Coachella and Stagecoach would fall under Governor Newsom’s Stage 4, which he has previously stated would require treatments or a vaccine to enter. Given the projected circumstances and potential, I would not be comfortable moving forward.”
Goldenvoice and AEG, the promoters for the events, have yet to make an announcement in regards to tickets.
